Postgraduate education requires studying and learning for the acquisition of degrees, certificates of academia and other qualifications in which a pass or Bachelors Degree must have been completed. This level of study is generally regarded as higher education. In Canada this standard of education is referred to as Graduate School.

There are two main classifications for studying at the postgraduate level; academic and vocational. An academic degree is a university or college diploma that has required one to have completed a prescribed course of study to a satisfactory level. The most common academic degrees awarded today are Bachelor’s Degrees, Masters Degrees and Doctoral Degrees. Vocational Education also known as career and technical education; CTE, is education and training directly applicable to specific careers in professional trades such as engineering, accountancy or pharmacy for example.
